Crystal Palace: Final weekend:
I hope you all enjoyed the relative quiet of no microphones during the first session today at CP! Fortunately we managed to get one working for the second session so normal service was resumed. Tomorrow is the last day of the Championships so we will be presenting the Age Group Awards and the major trophies. I have updated the tables to reflect today’s events.

We have made one change to the published schedule. All the 1500m heats will take place at Crystal Palace. The LAC session has been removed to make room for the 50m sprints.

Dates and Locations We have been unable to secure the required sessions at Surrey Sports Park for the 2018 Championships. The dates have therefore changed from those considered in the draft proposals published on the 2017 page. In order to deliver a long course championship for 2018, Crystal Palace will fill the gap left by Surrey Sports Park. The dates and venues are now confirmed as follows:

Key dates for next year are as follows: Closing Date: 31 December 2017 Age at date: 31 December 2018 Times to have been swum since: 27 February 2017 Qualifying Times for 2018 Following the coaches forum in March, we have set the qualifying standards using the tool available from British Swimming that allows us to identify the top swimmers in Surrey from ranking times in the previous 12 months. Our Surrey coaches requested that the target number of swimmers for each age group in each event are as follows: 10/11, 12 and 13 years: top 24 14 and 15 years: top 16 16 and 17&Over: top 12. This has been applied to all events except the 50m sprints. These have been set at the level of the County B accepted times from 2017 because we are swimming these events in the London Aquatic Centre which has 10 lanes and wanted to provide an “Olympic” experience for our younger swimmers. While the above approach has been used to set the Qualifying Times, our policy of not limiting the entries still applies.
