Marjorie Quested, a staunch supporter of swimming in Croydon for many decades, has died at the age of 95.
Her involvement in the sport can be traced back to the Sixties.
London Swimming vice-president Diane Gamble said that Marjorie and her late husband, Ken, had been “stalwarts of swimming in Croydon for many years.”
Marjorie was a Croydon Borough Swimming Association official and executive member from 1962 until 1997.
She was a Surrey official from 1962 until 1995.
In 1965 she became secretary of Thornton Heath SC, a post she held for fifteen years.
From 1980 until 1985 she was secretary of Woodside and Thornton Heath SC.
In 1997, Croydon Council presented her with a long service to sport.
She leaves behind a son and daughter, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
