A swimming teacher who spent more than four decades helping children learn to swim died last month.
Joyce Andrews, of Worcester Park in Surrey, was a volunteer at Wimbledon and Merton Swimming Club.
She started to teach swimming after the family doctor had recommended the sport to help her daughter’s asthma.
In 2010, Joyce was recognised in the Queen’s new year honours and awarded an MBE for voluntary service to her club.
She said at the time: “I accept this award on behalf all the people who have helped along the way.
“I think Wimbledon and Merton Swimming Club is one of the few clubs where all the teachers are volunteers.
“It’s a lovely club.”
She leaves behind a son, daughter and grandchildren.
