Paralympic swimmer Hannah Russell has been awarded an MBE for services to swimming in the Queen’s new year honours.
Russell, 20, a member of Woking Swimming Club, won two gold medals at the Rio Paralympics last September, one in a world-record time.
On Twitter she thanked “all who made it possible” and said it was the “perfect way” to end 2016.
She tweeted: “So honoured to have been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours!
“Thank you so much, it means a lot.”
