Godalming’s Ice Empress, Ellery McGowan, has added three more World Winter Swimming Titles in the harshest of all environments so far – the Russian City of Tyumen – Siberia. A land notorious for its blizzards and freezing conditions was not enough to deter our ice heroine from defending her titles from Finland two years ago.
For the record, the water was minus 0.2C (I was there too) and surely the greatest complement to any successful Master is to have one’s opponents claiming she’s not as old as her entry form……
