Woking Swimming Club is looking for an ambitious ‘performance orientated’ coach wishing to expand their career in swimming coaching with a club that has a great history with junior development to national and international level.
This position would involve working with a coaching team lead by the head coach but with responsibility for the top squad. Most of our training facilities are around Woking and it’s a great opportunity for a coach to establish themselves in the area. The role is also suitable for someone who is experienced and has a keen interest in competitive swimming.
The job includes weekend and evening work with approximately 14-16 hours of coaching a week available, and there could be additional admin hours for the right candidate.
Qualification and experience
• Preferably Level 3 ASA Coaching/Swim England Swimming Head Coaching, or Level 2 coach will be considered
• A number of years coaching competitive swimmers
• DBS/enhanced check
• Qualifications in sport science, strength and conditioning or other sports training are preferable but not a necessity
Candidate should have
• Great technical knowledge in all aspects of swimming training and development
• Desire to coach competitive swimmers ranging from junior development to county level (ages 13-18 years)
• Knowledge and understanding of competitive sport
• A fun and enthusiastic attitude towards sporting activities
• The ability to be fair and inclusive
Roles
• Programme planning and implementation for the top squad, which is targeted at ‘training to train’ and ‘training to perform’ level swimmers
• Overseeing the planning and delivery of training for the club’s top squad and competitive swimmers
• Competition and gala team selection
• Working with the head coach on programme structure
• Be part of a strong, supportive team of coaches
• Direct swimmers and parents to appropriate competitions in line with club competition schedule
• Suitable IT skills to support potential admin hours related to squads
• Motivate and encourage swimmers to improve and reach their potential
