Surrey County Coach 2024-2026

Applications are invited for the role of Surrey County Coach whose responsibilities will include:

• County pathway camps (12-year-olds)
• National County Team Championships (12 to 17-year-olds)

This is a high-visibility role in the county. The successful candidate will be actively involved in the team selection process of age group swimmers, and given the opportunity to work directly with highly-talented, top county swimmers to ensure a good level of success at camps and competitions. The county coach role is a two-year appointment.

Applicants should meet all these criteria
• Existing coach at a Surrey club
• UKCC level 2 qualified, or above
• Actively involved with coaching age group swimmers at their current club
• Actively involved in Swim England-approved county or regional programme
• Have a proven track record of success with age group swimming
• Carry a current DBS and safeguarding certification

Time commitment
• Preparation and communication with Team Manager for the selection of age group swimmers (county camps and championships, limited travelling involved)
• Preparation and attendance at three one-day county camps at ACS Cobham International School and Zoom (November, March & June)
• Attendance at the annual coach workshop held by Swim England
• Provide coaching plans, talks and presentation preparation for each county camp for 12-year olds (no travel time involved)
• Attendance at county team-building session in September, in readiness for the National County Team Championships
• To attend the weekend of the National County Team Championships (October)

Personal attributes
• Excellent communication skills
• Energetic with a high level of motivational skills
• Must be able to travel with the team and be away from home as required

All reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Hotel accommodation and subsistence at the National County Team Championships will be provided. The county camps will be remunerated in line with Swim England’s pathway programme guidance.
