Targeted at Surrey’s next generation of young swimming talent, lead coach David Vine reports on a series of county development camps held this year for 11-year-olds.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday 14 October marked the third and final county development swimming camp for 2018 at ACS International School Cobham.<\/span><\/p>\n

The county development programme is the first phase of the Swim England talent pathway. Participants were selected using criteria set out in the talent pathway programme – and were based on the highest rankings achieved at our county championships in January and February.<\/span><\/p>\n

Camp content included an introduction to land training, pool sessions, pre- and post-pool work, performance nutrition and other related workshops.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"The camps consisted of 36 swimmers selected from clubs right across the county<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The swimmers worked really well together and were fully engaged in the skills and ideas put forward at all three camps. They asked questions during them and enjoyed working with a number of coaches from some of the county’s clubs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, it was very rewarding to see their learning being brought forward from one camp to the next.<\/span><\/p>\n

Well done to all the swimmers and we hope you enjoyed the camps as much as we did. Next year I hope that we will have wider engagement from the Surrey clubs to gain some excellent opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n
